Thanks for the rec! It hurts my brain sometimes, all the different definitions that get attached to the term "fandom"....

I liked your explanation of Michigan SF fandom. It's been a long time since I was a part of it (my last Confusion was... ages ago, and even then I was always in the periphery) and I was glad to see someone explain the differences that I couldn't have put into words.

Thanks! I've been drifting away from the Detroit cons myself, recently. I self-identify as a media fan; Michigan SF fandom is sort of like Canada, for me. It can be fun to visit, but I'm not planning to move there.
