At one point Brilliant Husband (possibly when he was still just Brilliant Fiancé) objected to my black open-toed shoes with heels. Not knowing when to quit, I asked why. "My grandmother would wear shoes like those!" he said. I'd rather have a random person complain that I'm wearing grandmother shoes than a fiancé. Note that I was also in my early twenties at the time, which made it even worse.

I feel your pain.

If the shoe fits...
Maybe you should have asked how old Grandma is. We are getting up into that age bracket now, y'know. (I say without having any actual idea of how old you are, but I always assumed "around my age". And I'm old enough to be a young grandparent.)

Yeah, I know. When my mom was my age, I was 26. And these are very probably grandma shoes. The kid just got me on a bad day. I told her they were very comfortable.
