10:08a - Tom Lehrer
I grew up listening to my mom's Tom Lehrer records, but I had never actually *seen* Tom Lehrer singing. Someone has posted on YouTube eleven clips of Tom Lehrer performing his songs on stage in the 1960's. Yep, I still know all the words.
- The Vatican Rag. - Poisoning Pigeons in the Park. - Werner von Braun. - So Long, Mom (A Song for Word War III). - Send the Marines. - National Brotherhood Week. - Pollution - When You Are Old and Gray. - Masochism Tango. - The MLF Lullaby. - Who's Next.
EDIT:
One more, from 1980: - I Got It From Agnes
And another longer, informal one: - here and continued here. EDIT-EDIT: It's from a 1997 math lecture (part of Irving "Kaps" Kaplansky's 80th Birthday Celebration?).
And, for completion's sake, a more recent (1998?) concert version of Poisoning Pigeons.

6:31p - Quotes
"Captain Jack is awesome when he's on Doctor Who. It's only when he's on Torchwood that he suddenly morphs into Steve Carrell from The Office." / CharlieJane.
Fun with typos: "When I encounter a mom trying to care for a 3 yr old and an 8 month old, I am inclined to give her a medal and a wide birth." / scottybcoder.
"She said her abrupt dismissal from Sioux Automation [for writing her novel on company time] meant that she didn't have time to e-mail the most recently completed pages home for polishing and editing. But she recovered that work when the pages were entered into evidence at the unemployment hearing." / DesMoinesRegister.com.
"If you have a suggestion for the library, by all means, fill out a suggestion form. However, in my opinion, if you would like your suggestion to be taken seriously, you may want to leave off the part about the 'mark of the beast.'" / smiteyoudown.
"A classroom teacher lamented that given the amount of time kids are spending on line that they now need to be entertained if you want their attention. It's not an uncommon complaint. But I don't believe it is a valid one. The terms "entertain" and "engage" are being used synonymously. There are important distinctions." / Doug Johnson.
"Have you any homicidal tendencies? What street gangs are you in?" were just two of the questions asked by security staff who frisked the girls at the entrance of an orphanage situated across town in a scarily unfamiliar part of downtown Manhattan. "I'm a member of Appledore library," ventured Gemma. / Gemma Bray (via)
"I also heard one patron claim, over an 8 month period [the loss of library materials because of] - a stolen car - a home robbery - theft of my purse while in a restaurant - I was mugged - the school bully took my kids cards and checked out dvds - and, (My favorite) I was abducted by aliens. At every interaction, staff were unfailingly polite and repeated the appropriate variation of the above spiels. We are awaiting police reports. Rats. I wanted to read the abduction one." / Lynda Dydo.
